I collected these dragons back in 2001 when they were free patterns on the Dragon Dreams site. I never had time to do them, but finally started in 2003, working on one each month. Like Patchwork Pieces, I kept up-to-date until pregnancy got the better of me. Once Marcus was born and I had started stitching again, I picked up the afghan and decided to finish it as a project for him. I updated the Onyx dragon to read '2004' and added Marcus' birth details to the January square. It is now used as a cover to drape over his car seat to protect him from the sun and also from curious strangers since he is very susceptible to picking up colds etc which could easily turn into something nastier due to being so premature.
