Cats, and their ongoing goal of annoying us

August 1, 2009 18:29 by Dave

Given the choice of the whole spare bed to sleep on, the cat chooses

My suit jacket

My wife has also pointed out that I:

  • Noticed the cat on my jacket
  • Came upstairs to get a camera
  • Went back downstairs, took a series of photos of the cat
  • Came back up stairs, transferred and processed the photos
  • Tweeted the photo
  • Started this blog post
And I didn't bother to remove her from the jacket.  She's still there.

The grace of cats

April 7, 2009 23:34 by Dave

It never ceases to amaze me how the modern domestic cat can be at the same time amazingly graceful and mind-numbingly clumsy at the same time.

Our cat, Cally, was walking up a ladder I had set up to provide access the storage area under the house.  She easily managed the first 6 rungs, and then was apparently distracted by a passing neutrino and missed the next step, falling to the floor (only about a metre, the incline is only about 30deg).

She quickly realised I had watched this, put on her best "I meant to do that" face, and jumped back up to where she was and continued her journey as if nothing had happened.

What a wonderful source of entertainment they are.

The great huntress

June 16, 2008 14:20 by Dave

As we were washing Marcus tonight, I heard Cally mewing somewhere.  She didn't sound like she was in trouble or anything, so I figured she was just checking where we were and did we have any food for her.

It turned out she was calling us to come she her present.  She had been outside and hunting.  The prize she had caught was on the 2nd landing of the stairs.

It was:

Where she got it from, I have no idea.  But she loves it.
